Heriot Watt University rises on Dubai's OOH scene as part of EXPO 2020 Dubai, celebrating 200 years of excellence and success, through their first appearance on prime billboards. For 170 years, World Expos have served as a showroom for the most significant technologies that have changed the world we live in today. Visitors coming from all over the world are heading to Dubai for a 6-month-long celebration of humanity, creativity, innovation, and the discovery of rich and diverse cultures starting from the 1st of October to the 31st of March 2022.
There are over 190 countries that are expected to attend, and Dubai EXPO presents a global stage to exhibit British innovation. Heriot-Watt University is proud to be a supporting partner of the UK at EXPO 2020. Heriot-Watt will be represented by its world-leading academics while participating in key breakthrough moments including the Heriot-Watt Future Skills Conference that will address core topics that have to do with how technologies such as AI and Robotics are changing the world of work, and the necessary skills to transform to a net-zero economy and the role of digital education in driving global access and inclusion.
Heriot-Watt at EXPO 2020 Dubai will also be hosting a panel discussion with Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer, regarding the availability of resources to live in 2050. There will also be another panel discussion with Professor Michel Kaiser, Heriot-Watt's Chief Scientist who will be speaking about how to feed the world without destroying the planet. Last but not least, Oliver Lemon, Professor of Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, will participate as a keynote speaker covering the dilemma of; can machines truly understand us?
The campaign uses the main tagline "Celebrating 200 Years of Innovation and Academic Excellence" as well as highlighting that the university is a "Supporting Partner of the UK at EXPO 2020". The visual uses an azure blue background color which calls to mind feelings of calmness and serenity. Blue is often seen as a sign of stability, reliability, peace, security, tranquility, and neatness. The visual also portrays an aesthetic photograph of Heriot-Watt University's main campus.
The campaign is a relatively new one that was released during the third week of September as hoardings that were distributed at limited OOH spots across Dubai.
